Day of the Dead

Hello  again,
Told you I'd be back today. I meant to write a little earlier but I got home about an hour ago.
So Happy Day of the Dead! Hope there were some really nice Catrinas showing off their makeup. I saw a gorgeous one at Price Costco, what was kind of a downer is that it was the cleaning lady. I mean, what about the employees?  That would've been nice and fun. But anyway, that's that.
November is here which is kinda scary for me since my birthday is coming up 😯😯...

One day late and one day early

Hello you!
Now, I know it's already November 1st but I still wanted to say: Happy Halloween! 👻🎃😈😉
Hope you had a great time if went trick or treating or to a party. If you didn't go anywhere I hope you had a great time too. There were tons of good movies on cable all through the month but especially yesterday. I wish I could've watched them all. Lol.
I  had quite a busy day but arrived home just in time to take my son trick or treating wearing his werewolf costume. I did have to revamp it a little. Since he didn't get to go last year because it was raining, he couldn't wear it but on the positive side I got to make him furry paws and an equally furry tail. His mask almost didn't fit anymore. 😛
We went around the neighborhoods for around an hour and collected as much candy as we  could. Wasn't much because we have stingy neighbors but he had fun. Which is the point of it all.
Today is All Saints Day and tomorrow is Day of the Dead. So we'll be sharing some pan de muerto with our dearly departed.
I'll be back tomorrow to wish you good day.

Nightmare interrupted?...

Hello you wonderful people reading this. I really hope there's more than one of you. Lol.
Anyway, since it's almost Halloween, I  thought I'd share with you the next story.
First of all, I need you to understand one thing, ever since I learned about the whole voodoo vibe that goes on in New Orleans, I've been scared shitless of finding myself at a place like that. I have been known to explore the paranormal in cemeteries and other places. And even though the idea of visiting the tomb of famous vodoo queen, Marie Laveau sounds a bit enticing, it does scare the shit out of me.
Cutting to the chase, I was dreaming that I was by myself walking through a swamp on a very sunny morning. I could see grass below my feet, however I could feel the wetness go through my sneakers and the land not being very firm and even sorta shaky. I kept telling myself apparently out loud: "You can do this, there's nothing to worry about. You can do this, you can do this." -- My hands were sweaty. I was genuinely scared. I reached the end of the swamp and got to a cemetery. The bad vibe I had just kept getting worse. Unlike my "investigations", I  was alone and I think that's what made it scary.
Making my way through the graves,  something inside my head made me want to wake up. I actually crossed that unconscious to physically conscious barrier, to the point where I was opening my eyes with my hands because my eyelids felt so heavy. I kept hearing a voice inside me saying: "Wake up! Wake up!!"
I sprinted out of my bed walking straight to the bathroom to wash my face. I felt so tired afterwards, maybe because of the effort to I made to open my eyes.
I know it was not much of a nightmare and I can probably understand why it was hard for me to wake up, but why the urge to do so?  Did a part of me felt it would be worse if I kept on dreaming?  Guess I'll never know. I'm okay with that too. Call it a gut feeling.
Ok, so there's my weird dream story. Hope I didn't confuse you too much. Lol.

A much needed Ghostbusters movie "review"

Sorry I have been neglecting my writing a bit but I feel much better and ready to be here for good.
Ok, so first of all, this is not an actual review but more likely my humble opinion.
So, I finally got to see the very criticized Ghostbusters movie and I have to say that, despite all the bad things previously said and read, I went in with a fresh head trying to play the devil's advocate.
After everything was done (Credits and all - my kid loves to watch till the very end), I knew exactly where all the negativity came from. The problem isn't the actresses or their acting. God knows I'm a huge Melissa McCarthy fan and Chris Hemsworth! Wooh! I don't think I really need to elaborate. Lol.
But even the talent of the complete cast, yes, including the cameos of the original ghostbusters (of course the only one missing was Harold Ramis - my fave 😢) couldn't save the franchise.
It just has such a terrible script and it's directed very very poorly.
All of the girls' jokes and punch lines are out time and/or context which makes it hard for the moment to be funny. And I'm really not one to point fingers but this time, I just Have to. Even if it's just to honor the original film and Ramis' memory. This entire fiasco is Paul Feig's fault.
Looking at his list of films, this shouldn't be a surprise. I mean, have you seen Bridesmaids? Knocked up? The heat? - The man tries soooooo hard to be funny and he's not so he fails miserably.
That's what brought the franchise down!
It's not the acting! It's not even the fact that they changed Major stuff in it, that could've still worked. It's the director! And his awful lack of writing skills!
So, there. If you want to blame someone for the downfall of one of my favorite childhood memories, blame him because he utterly deserves it.
Those are my two cents on it.

Adult-themed cartoons?

Hello hello,
Well, I'm back. Turns out I wasn't as sick as my mom made me think. I should know better than to listen to her.
Anyway, that's that.
I have been meaning to write about something that has been bothering me. And that is certain cartoons that aren't exactly directed to children. On the bad side, some of these are the ones that seem most appealing to children.
Take for example that "Steven Universe", it's full of sexual and lesbic innuendos.
Now, don't get me wrong. I don't have anything against anybody's preferences. As far as I know every individual has the right to love whatever and whoever they want. But, when you mix that into a cartoon, things tend to get sticky. Now, I don't know what the whole point of this cartoon is, is it meant to entertain adults interested in such topics or is it meant for children to understand such topics at an early age??
Another one that I don't really like is the " Teen Titans ", it tends to sexualize the characters, you know, since they're teens and all... Sorry but this mom doesn't approve.
I may be overreacting, but I don't appreciate my kid being able to watch this at any time any day of the week.
I just feel that compared to what I used to watch when I was a kid, cartoons and the people who draw them have certainly lost some very important values along the years.   Do you agree?
Next time they'll say that   "The Simpsons" is also for kids (Heeell, nah!)

I'm ill

Hello again,
Sorry it took me forever to get back. I know I'm probably writing for myself but I really don't care.
I've been ill for a few days now and I haven't had the strength to even get out of bed. And to top it off, it's that time of the month..'nuff said.
I'm going to the doctor first thing tomorrow. Hope it's nothing to worry about, after all the horror stories my mom just told me, I Am sorta scared.
Oh well, I'll be brave and bite the bullet.

Racism on Wikipedia?!

Anyway, hello again.
So, I've had a rough couple of days. I'm not gonna lie.
It's hard for me to be here everyday.  Mostly because of my son. Who's the Tasmanian devil, always running around the house breaking things. He's been giving me a break (a very tiny one) because he's got a badly twisted ankle. Yet he's still jumping around.
But in other news, I was browsing Wikipedia and I got to read to my surprize, some Very Racist articles. Now, I do understand to a certain extent that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I think we could all agree that shouldn't apply to historical information. One of the articles I read was about a war, so I was pretty much baffled by the way it was expressed. I do understand that Wikipedia is edited by the people for the people, though someone there is taking sides and hating.
If you ask me, excluding someone because of their nationality/language/skin color, etc. is just pure ignorance. Yes. Racism is Ignorance in its purest form. Take for instance the Irish. When the Mexican-American war was happening in the  1840s, the Irish wanted to fight. So, they asked the US if they could join them. The USA gave them a funny look (and by funny I mean disgusted) probably because they couldn't make out what they were saying. So the Irish cursed at them and joined the Mexicans. After all, hey! They were dressed in green! Lol. No, I'm joking. But they did join them. And that Irish accent, sexy as hell but hard to understand for most people.
I'm drifting, sorry.
My point is: I would love to set a rule and say that you can't diminish or disrespect people based on how they look or what  language they speak. That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard!  Unfortunately people are people and we can't always change their minds, although I would love to try.
